Where is Bradenton, Florida?

Bradenton, city, seat (1903) of Manatee County, west-central Florida, U.S., lies on the south bank of the Manatee River near its mouth at Tampa Bay, about 10 miles (15 km) north of Sarasota. Palma Sola Bay is five miles down State Road 64, also known as Manatee Avenue. A short drive over the Palma Sola Causeway leads to Anna Maria island on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. As Bradenton is to Sarasota, Anna Maria is to neighboring Longboat Key. The Gulf beaches can also be similarly accessed from the city’s south side via Cortez Road, home to the highly rated Cortez Café, an Old Florida eatery known for its breakfast.

Bradenton features several high-performing public schools, including the A-rated Gene Witt Elementary and Rowlett Middle Academy. Manatee High is a B-rated school. Local attractions include LECOM Park, the spring training home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Organized youth activity takes place at G.T. Bray Park. Of course, the Florida community would only be complete with at least one golf course, and Bradenton has two. Pinebrook Ironwood Golf Course is a convenient public facility, while the private, Donald Ross-designed course at the Bradenton Country Club will turn 100 in 2024.

Is Bradenton, Florida, a nice place to live?

Like many Florida towns and cities, Bradenton welcomes new arrivals with open arms. Indeed, the town’s nickname is “The Friendly City” because of its reputation as a place where everyone’s invited! One reason is that many folks in Bradenton moved here from other states. That’s especially true of northeastern states like New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New York. The locals are friendly, and Bradenton has a laid-back, party atmosphere all year.
Bradenton is perfect if you’re looking for a city where you can live life outdoors. Yes, it gets sweltering in the summer. In spring, fall, and winter, though, the temperature is ideal, the sun is shining, and the water’s great! It’s perfect for walking, biking, barbecuing, beachcombing, and, of course, fishing!

As a popular tourist spot, Bradenton offers both its guests and its residents a wide variety of entertaining and stimulating opportunities. All year, there are several festivals to attend, some dedicated specifically to music, others to art, and still others to culture. Some of Bradenton’s most well-known festivals include the Sarasota Seafood & Music Festival and the Manatee County Fair.

Explore the beautiful The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, G.T. Bray Park, Robinson Preserve, De Soto National Memorial, and Manatee Village Historical Park are many other places to visit in town.
