Dade City, located in Pasco County, Florida, serves as a city and county seat. Nestled in the Tampa Bay Area, it lies northeast of Tampa and southwest of Orlando, with a population of 7,27, according to the 2020 census.
In the 1870s and 1880s, a previous European-American settlement named Fort Dade existed nearby. The construction of a railroad a few miles to the east prompted business owners to relocate, establishing a new town known as Dade City. The transition became official on December 18, 1884, when the Hatton post office was renamed Dade City.
